Activities and adventure tours depart from both the Sun City complex and the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
In the reserve
Game drives, either self-driven or guided in open vehicles, are the mainstay. Guided drives leave before sunrise and again in the late afternoon, when the animals are most active. Guided game walks and birding outings put you on foot with a qualified field guide.
Pilanesberg also operates hot air balloon safaris, which lift off at dawn and finish with a champagne breakfast in the bush.
Around the area
Sun City’s entertainment centre, golf courses, Valley of the Waves water park and casino are immediately next door, and day tours run from Johannesburg taking in both Sun City and the reserve.
